Giving old stationery a new lease of life
Donate your unwanted stationery and we’ll revive them to donate to local schools and tamariki.
Tu Biddle, team lead at Taupō Library, says the Stationery Revive project is a simple way for the local community to help kids who still need pens, books and bags for school next year.
“There’s no point wasting money and throwing things away if they can be reused, so having these donation boxes makes it simple and easy to help. If you’re visiting any of our district libraries, whether that’s to borrow a free book or use any of the other awesome services we have, bring in your unwanted stationery and help our tamariki.”
What can you donate?
Used or excess items in usable condition:
- Pens, pencils, highlighters, markers, crayons
- Exercise books, notebooks, art books, refill paper
- Erasers, rulers, sharpeners, glue sticks, protractors, scissors, calculators
- Book bags, pencil cases
- Half-used pencils and even named exercise books with some pages written on are all totally fine - we’ll give these a makeover before we send them back out!
Please do not dump any broken items or supplies in really poor condition. Some items are not accepted – please do not donate ring binders, oil pastels, file folders and sleeves.

Collection boxes are at:
- Taupō, Tūrangi and Mangakino Customer Service and Visitor Centres
- Taupō, Tūrangi and Mangakino Library
- AC Baths and Turtle Pools
Collection boxes are available from Monday 1 December to Friday 9 January 2026.
We’ll refurbish old items and distribute them for free ready for the next school year. By donating you’re saving on waste and helping the community.
