Second Joint Management Agreement briefing coming up
News
We know many people in our community are interested in the draft Joint Management Agreement (JMA) and the process behind it.
Our Mayor and councillors are having briefing workshops on the JMA over the next few months. Each will build on the last to provide a step-by-step process to inform councillors and the public.
Note these are information sessions only – no decisions will be made.
The first briefing, JMA Legal 101, was held in December and explained the requirements set out in the Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Raukawa and Te Arawa River Iwi Waikato River Act 2010. You can view this workshop, and all future workshops on our YouTube channel.
The second briefing will be held as follows:
- Briefing: Joint Management Agreement – mandatory matters
- Date: Tuesday 24 February, 11am to 11.45am
- Location: Council Chambers, 67 Horomātangi St, Taupō
- Topic: JMA mandatory matters – explaining the matters that, by law, must be included in our joint management agreements with Waikato River iwi. Staff will explain and give examples of how these mandatory matters work in practice.
- Open to the public – the community are very welcome to come along and find out more about the mandatory matters and what they cover.
