Work gets underway from Thursday 19 March to repair a significant slip on Oruanui Road.
Stop/go traffic management may be used at times on Thursday and Friday, 19-20 March, while the crew are getting setup at the site of the slip.
- From Monday 23 March Oruanui Road will be closed between Link Road and Tuhingamata Road, Monday to Friday, from 7am to 7pm.
- During these times, all traffic will be detoured via Tuhingamata Road or Link Road and SH1 depending on destination.
- Oruanui Road will be open overnight on week days (7pm to 7am) and during weekends but will be down to one lane past the worksite.
- Work to repair the slip is expected to take four to five weeks.
- Residents will receive a pass to allow them to access the closed section of the road.
The slip occurred during a recent storm and has caused considerable damage to the road near to the intersection with Tuhingamata Road. We’ll also take the opportunity to upgrade a drainage culvert in the same location to make this section of roadway more resilient.
We know this is a disruptive piece of work but this is a sizeable piece of work and we’re asking all drivers to use caution around the worksite.
