UPDATE 12.30pm Monday 23 March: Change on Wairakei Drive: south-bound lane now closed

Work to reseal Wairakei Dr started this morning. While stop/go traffic management only was planned today, the team have had to make a change and the south-bound lane is now closed until this evening. The north-bound lane remains open.

A reminder Wairakei Dr will be closed in both directions between Huka Falls Road (Taupō end) and Wairakei Thermal Valley Rd tomorrow and Wednesday 25 March, from 7am to 7pm. Recommend detour using the East Taupō Arterial, or via Huka Falls Rd.

4pm Friday 20 March

HEB Construction, on behalf of Taupō District Council, will begin resealing sections of Wairakei Drive between Huka Falls Road (Taupō end) and Wairakei Thermal Valley Road on Monday 23 March.

On Monday 23 March, stop/go traffic management near the BP will be used at times in the morning only, after 8.30am. If you’re using the road during these times, please allow a little extra time for your drive.
On Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 March, a detour will be in place via Huka Falls Road from 7am to 7pm both days.

If you’re travelling between town and northern parts of the district we recommend using the East Taupō Arterial (ETA) while the works are taking place.

Access to all businesses in the area will be maintained at all times.
