Safety upgrade for Tītīraupenga/Roberts intersection
Work gets underway this week on upgrades and safety improvents to the Tītīraupenga St and Roberts St intersection.
The work will see pedestrian islands installed to make crossing Tītīraupenga St safer, street lighting improvements, and a raised crossing between Briscoes and The Fox and Hounds.
Project manager Jason Dayne says work is scheduled for completion in August and there will be closures of Roberts St during the upgrade.
“Businesses and residents have asked for changes to this intersection for some time, and this work was part of a commitment made to safety improvements during the Taupō Town Centre Transformation, so it’s great to be able to work with them on the upgrade.
"Tītīraupenga St is increasingly busy and can be difficult for pedestrians to cross, so in addition to installing the islands we’ll also be working with nearby businesses on realigning some carparks to improve safer exit movements for vehicles.”
