Shared pathway work starts on Norman Smith and Tongariro streets
News
Work is underway on upgrading the footpath leading down Tongariro St and up Norman Smith St.
The upgrade will see the existing footpath removed and a wider, shared pathway installed to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. The upgrade will also increase connectivity to Acacia Bay and Mapara.
Construction will run from 7am to 7pm with no works on Sundays and public holidays. The project is expected to be completed in April and the route will still be open to pedestrians and cyclists.
While no road closures are required on Tongariro St and Norman Smith St, there will be a closure of around five days for Redoubt St (currently scheduled for 18 to 23 February). Drivers are asked to please use caution around the work site.
