Award-winning Global Games return to Taupō next week

Hundreds of young rugby players from across New Zealand and around the world will descend on Taupō next week when the award-winning Global Games return to Owen Delany Park.

Running from Thursday 17 September to Sunday 20 September, the annual event has become a highlight on the junior sporting calendar, offering players the opportunity to compete against teams from across the country and overseas while creating lifelong memories both on and off the field.

Hosted at Owen Delany Park, the festival showcases the next generation of rugby talent and gives spectators the chance to see future stars in action in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.

The Global Games continue to earn national recognition, taking out both Sports Event of the Year 2026 and Sustainable Event Initiative of the Year 2026, cementing their reputation as one of New Zealand's premier sporting events.

To help keep competitors, spectators and road users safe during the festival, temporary traffic management will be in place around Owen Delany Park. Speed restrictions will apply on Centennial Drive and Delany Drive from 7am to 5pm daily, and increased traffic is expected in the area throughout the event.

A warm welcome is extended to all competitors, coaches, whānau and supporters travelling to Taupō for the festival, with special best wishes to the local Taupō rohe teams competing on home turf.
