Repair Café keeps nearly half a tonne of waste out of landfill
News
A dedicated team of volunteers is helping Taupō residents save money and reduce waste. The Taupō Repair Café has fixed more than 100 items and diverted almost 500 kilograms of material from landfill.
Volunteers have given a new lease on life to a wide range of household items that may otherwise have been thrown away. Items include:
- toys
- clothing
- clocks
- bicycles
- small appliances.
The Repair Café offers free repairs and practical advice. Beyond the repairs themselves, the events provide an opportunity to learn new skills, connect with others in the community and discover simple ways to reduce waste.
The next Taupō Repair Café will be held on Saturday 14 November. Entry and repairs are free, with registrations available now at www.taupo.govt.nz/repaircafe.
