IRONMAN 2027 date announced

The world's best professional triathletes will once again descend on Taupō after ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand was confirmed as part of the Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series in 2027.

The prestigious event will take place on Saturday 6 March 2027, bringing elite athletes, supporters and spectators to the district for one of the country's most iconic sporting events.

Taupō District Mayor John Funnell welcomed the announcement, saying it was another vote of confidence in the district's ability to host world-class events.

"Taupō is proud to welcome the IRONMAN Pro Series back in March 2027. This event is a highlight on our calendar and a fantastic opportunity to showcase our district to visitors from across New Zealand and around the world," he said.

"We look forward to welcoming athletes, supporters and spectators and sharing the best of Taupō's hospitality, scenery and community spirit."

As part of the global IRONMAN Pro Series, the race will attract some of the sport's top professional competitors, who will battle it out on Taupō's streets, roads and waterways for valuable series points and the chance to be crowned an IRONMAN champion.

The event is also expected to deliver significant international exposure for the district, with live coverage broadcast to audiences around the world.

Taupō has a long-standing reputation as one of New Zealand's premier destinations for endurance sport, and the return of the IRONMAN Pro Series further strengthens the district's standing on the international sporting stage.

Local volunteers, supporters and athletes are expected to once again play an important role in the event's success, helping to create the atmosphere and community spirit that has made IRONMAN New Zealand a favourite among competitors for more than four decades.
