Recycle right and get rewards

It’s New Zealand Recycling Week from Monday 19 October which offers a great reminder to keep sorting out your kerbside recycling.

If you recycle right, you could win vouchers to your favourite local café. There’s also the personal satisfaction from knowing you’re helping to reduce waste in the district.

How can you win? Simply sort your recycling into three streams and have it kerbside by 7.30am:

• Plastics (#1, 2 & 5 only) tin and aluminium into one container. Remove or push lids inside.
• Cardboard and paper (all flattened) into a different solid container (no cardboard boxes please, they get soggy and collapse)
• Glass (unbroken) into another solid container.

Our team will be keeping an eye on your recycling throughout the entire district – if you have some good-looking bins, check your letterbox for a pleasant surprise.

A café voucher might last you one weekend - but good habits last a lifetime.

You can pick up a green or black recycling bin from your nearest Customer and Visitor Information Centre. You’ve got to bin it to win it!

Reducing waste and improving recycling is a win-win for all of us – find out more at www.taupo.govt.nz/kerbsiderecycling.

Let’s all look after the place we love.
