Remedial tree work for Hipapatua Reserve
News
Several older pine trees are being removed from Hipapatua Reserve due to safety concerns.
The trees are located at the northern end of the Reserve, which is currently closed for winter maintenance.
Parks manager sports and horticulture Andrew Moor says that the area is used by campers in summer and there is a risk of trees or branches falling and causing injury.
“These trees are fairly old and several are very close to the bank, which also raises the risk of slips. So we are keen to do some remedial work and make sure it is safe for everyone, and then get carry out some regressing so that Hipapatua Reserve is looking good for spring,” he said.
