Review of district-wide reserve management plans
Survey now closed
The survey on reserve management plans closed at 4.30pm, Wednesday 30 September 2026. Thank you for all of the feedback received.
Over the last few months of 2026 we'll review the feedback received and our existing reserve management plans and develop a new draft consolidated management plan. In early 2027, we’ll ask for community feedback on the new draft plan.
If you have any questions, email us at districtwide-rmp@taupo.govt.nz.
Introduction
We're reviewing our reserve management plans across the Taupō District, and want to know what you think. What is out of date? What has changed? What are your views on our recreation reserves?
Every recreation reserve has a different role. Recreation reserves are the places around our district for walking, enjoying nature and the lake edge, playing sport, gathering with friends, outdoor concerts, or simply taking a moment to unwind.
Council is required to have reserve management plans for these areas. These identify how the community would like the reserves to be managed. The current management plans were developed years ago. Since then, our communities have grown, recreation trends have changed, and some reserves are being used in new ways.
As part of the district-wide reserves management plan review, we're asking a few questions:
- Which reserves do you use most?
- What do you do there?
- What do you value about them?
- Is there anything in the current plans that you think needs updating?
- If so, which reserve and why?
Your feedback will help shape a new district-wide reserves management plan, which will guide how our reserves are managed in years to come.
