Taupō District landfill and transfer stations are going cashless

From Friday 1 August 2025, cash will no longer be accepted at the Taupō, Tūrangi, Mangakino, Ōmori, and Kinloch landfill and transfer stations.
This change is being made to improve safety and security following recent thefts and property damage at these facilities. Moving forward, Eftpos and credit card payments only will be accepted.
Reduce Waste, Save Money!
You can cut down on disposal costs by:
- Recycling batteries, car seats, whiteware, electronics, cardboard & more (many items are FREE to recycle!)
- Donating usable items to local Op Shops
- Repairing broken goods at a Repair Café (the next Repair Café takes place on Saturday 28 June)
