Motuoapa Water Treatment Plant taking shape

The foundations are down, the building is done and now the fit out of process equipment, tanks, filter membranes and UV disinfection units is underway at the new Motuoapa water treatment plant.

This plant will have the capacity to treat 1250m3 of water at peak production and has a budget of $9.5million. Project Manager Elijah May says the mechanical fit out is going well and the plant is expected to be up and running in the second half of this year.

“This is part of a major project of works to get water supplies in our smaller communities up to The Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai’s standards,” Elijah says.

“We completed a new plant in Kinloch late last year and the new Omori plant is now also operational. We are also in the planning phase for a new plant to serve the Hatepe community, so it’s great to see all these projects taking shape and making our network safer and more resilient.”
