New Motuoapa Water Treatment Plant formally opened
News
Local residents and hapu joined elected members and the council project team today to formally open the new Motuoapa Water Treatment Plant.
The new plant follows similar plants built within the last year at Kinloch and Omori, and will be followed by one in Hatepe next year.
The Motuoapa plant can produce 1250m3 of treated water at peak production - enough to fill a standard Olympic-sized swimming pool every second day - and had a budget of $9.5million.
Project Manager Elijah May says the plant is part of a major project of works to get water supplies to our smaller communities up to The Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai’s standards.
