Improvements for Two Mile Bay Reserve
Two Mile Bay Reserve, which is frequently used for overflow car and boat trailer parking, is having an upgrade to reduce dust and improve safety.
The reserve will have asphalt sealing and permeable concrete and grass car parking spaces to make it less dusty in summer and less slippery in wet weather.
Vehicle barriers will make the area safer and easier to navigate, and landscaping and tree planting will help capture stormwater before it reaches the lake as well as provide shade.
Deputy Mayor Kevin Taylor says the work has been scheduled to avoid the wet weather of early spring, and the contractor will be working as quickly as possible to get the upgrade done before the busy summer months.
“Boating is a major attraction for our district, and we want visitors and locals to have a safe and enjoyable experience when using the Two Mile Bay boat ramp,” Mr Taylor said.
“Our aim is to deliver a safer, tidier and more functional reserve while keeping disruption, long-term maintenance and the construction programme firmly in view. So if you’re a boatie or regular user of the reserve then bear with us – you’re going to like the result.”
Work will be finished by late November/early December.
