Two Mile Bay Reserve upgrade

Project overview

We’re upgrading Two Mile Bay Reserve to make it safer, tidier and more functional.

The upgrade includes improved parking, mobility access, landscaping and stormwater treatment with a range of other minor enhancements.

Boating is a major attraction in the Taupō District and Two Mile Bay boat ramp is a well used facility by locals and visitors, especially over the busy summer months. The upgrade work has been timed to avoid the wetter early-spring period and be completed ahead of summer.

What we're doing

• new overflow parking area will be constructed using permeable paving blocks and grass infill (as pictured below) to reduce dust in summer and make it less slippery in wet weather
• new ashalt surface will provide smoother vehicle access in and out of the carpark
• vehicle barriers are being added to make the area safer and easier to navigate
• new landscaping and tree planting will provide shade and also help to capture stormwater before it reaches the lake.
