Project overview
We’re making safety improvements at the western end of
Spa Road to support people walking, improve visibility for drivers and make the
area safer for everyone moving through this busy part of Taupō.
The work takes place over several different sites and will include:
- installing a new pedestrian refuge near
Oruanui Street to support increased pedestrian traffic in the area
- removing
several trees to improve driver visibility
- new fencing on the
traffic island entering the Spa Road roundabout, which will
improve visibility.
While the Spa Road safety work is being carried out, we’ll also be making improvements to Gascoigne Reserve. This includes new tree planting, landscaping work and low barrier fencing to help protect the revised reserve space.
