Membership and fees
How to join
Anyone can become a member of our district libraries. Joining entitles you to membership to all three libraries in the district - Mangakino, Taupo and Turangi.
To join the library complete our online membership form and then visit your library with $1.50 for a library card (for local residents and rate payers) and bring photo I.D. and a statement or a bill that has been posted to your address within the last three months. If you are under 18 you will need a parent or guardian to sign for you.
Alternatively, you can sign up online for a free, temporary Digital Only Membership which gives you access to our eBooks, eAudiobooks and other online resources by selecting the Digital Only Membership option on the online membership form.

One card for Bay of Plenty libraries
A group of Bay of Plenty libraries have joined together to create One Library Card, which allows you to borrow books from libraries other than those in the Taupo District.
You have to return them to the same library you borrowed them from, but if you're an avid reader on holiday, it's a useful tool!
It means you don't have to sign up at other Bay of Plenty libraries to borrow from them. You don't need another card either - just use your Taupo District Libraries card. You can borrow from Te Puke, Katikati, Omokoroa, Waihi Beach, Kawerau, Opotiki, Whakatane and Rotorua.
Please be aware any fees from other libraries must be paid at the library where the fees came from.
For more information, visit Taupo District Libraries and chat to the team.
