Our galleries feature exhibitions showcasing original art by local and New Zealand artists as well as national touring exhibitions. There is always something of interest on show.
Booking an exhibition
Taupō Museum has two spaces to hire for art exhibitions - an art gallery and the Niven room. We ask interested artists to forward a proposal regarding their exhibition and have outlined some guidelines to help you provide the information we require:
The Art Gallery has white painted walls. Four large mobile units can also be used to create separate spaces within the gallery. A range of other plinths are also available for use.
- The gallery measures 9 metres by 12 metres (108 square metres) with 39 lineal metres of hanging space.
- Four large mobile units , each measuring 1800mm long, 620mm deep, 2470mm high, may be used to add an additional 19 lineal metres of hanging space.
The Niven Room leads off the Art Gallery. It is a multi purpose space used as a classroom, workshop venue, meeting room and art gallery therefore we ask that exhibitions in this space are confined to the walls.
- The room measures 10.55 metres by 4.32 metres with 21.62 metres of lineal hanging space.
- The alcove at the end of the room is an additional display space and measures 4.32m wide, 850mm deep and 1850mm high.
