Council workshops

The purpose of a council workshop, briefing or presentation is to prepare our mayor and councillors with the appropriate background information and knowledge they need in order to make informed decisions for the district.

Workshops are part of an educative phase of the council’s decision making process and also provide an opportunity for discussion between elected members and council staff. Workshops can not be used to make final decisions - these can only be made at council meetings.

Council workshops are generally open to the public, however from time to time, we may need to exclude the public and when that happens we will outline the reason for this.

Locations and times for council workshops

All council workshops are held in the Council Chamber, 107 te Heuheu Street, Taupō, unless stated otherwise. Note that workshops times are subject to change at short notice.

Note: in relation to the s 7 withholding ground, we’re not aware the public interest considerations would outweigh the need to have the workshop closed (given the extremely sensitive nature of the information to be discussed as reflected in the s 6(a) ground that isn’t subject to a public interest override).
