Update your dog's details

We offer a discounted registration fee for neutered (desexed) dogs. To qualify for the reduced fee you must provide proof of desexing (for example, a vet certificate). We're unable to offer the discounted fee without proof.

So we can update our records, please email your details, including proof, to businessenablement@taupo.govt.nz come in to one of our customer service centres or complete our contact us online form.

To transfer ownership of a dog to someone else, we'll need to know the name, contact details and date of birth of the new owner. Note that if you want to transfer ownership of a dog classified as dangerous, you must apply to us in writing prior to rehoming the dog.

Dogs are important members of the family and it's really distressing when a much-loved pet passes away.

We understand that admin is the last thing you want to be thinking about at such a time. However, it's important to take a moment to let us know so we can update our records. We don't want to upset you by sending you an invoice the next time registration fees are due.

You may be eligible to have part of your registration fee refunded. Under the Dog Control Act 1996, a refund will be a pro-rata amount calculated from the date you tell us that your dog has died.

If you're moving out of the Taupō District, you may want to register your dog with your new home council. If that happens, please let us know so we can update our records.
