Water connection standards
We are responsible for managing the water services systems across the Taupō District. This involves protecting and maintaining assets and ensuring that any new connections comply with agreed standards.
The standards have been established to ensure drinking water cannot be contaminated and that what gets built:
- is fit for purpose
- is consistent with community requirements, as recorded in the Code of Practice for Development Standards
- will not require on-going unnecessary and expensive maintenance
- does not increase demands on the system such that existing users are adversely affected
- does not create unsafe or unhygienic situations.
