Marlene JOHNSON

My principal place of residence is in the Mangakino-Pouākani Ward area.

I have resided in Mangakino for 5 years and I am the Manager of the Mangakino Central Charitable Trust. We deliver 16 community projects across 7 sites within the Mangakino - Whakamaru rohe.

Prior to moving to Mangakino I had a 10 year background of working for a similar community-based organisation in Coromandel, and was also the Coromandel Regional Manager for the Graeme Dingle Foundation.

I am on the BoT for the Mangakino School and am also a Qualified Firefighter with the Mangakino Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Positive Relationships (Whakawhanaungatanga), Integrity (pono) and Respect (Manaakitanga) are values that are important to me and I believe fairness, transparency, and collaboration are the cornerstones of good governance.

Building a strong community that is inclusive, resilient and that thrives for all its members is important.

Kia ora, Hello I’m Hope Woodward, a strong community advocate, successful small business owner, and local mum, standing for Mangakino-Pouakani with consistency and action. Our district has been overlooked for too long. We need real change, not empty promises. I’m already delivering. Holding regular hui, working alongside residents, and successfully initiating changes on key concerns at council. That mahi will continue and grow with your vote.

Fairer rate calculations, rates caps, and full transparency of council spending are non-negotiable. You deserve to know where every dollar goes. Mangakino-Pouakani deserves clean water, safe roads and bridges, a functioning boat ramp, reliable infrastructure, and community facilities that meet our needs - not what’s left after Taupō’s big-budget projects.
