Special committees are established to address specific tasks or issues that are outside the scope of our standing committees.
District Dog Control Committee
Objective
The objective of the District Dog Control Committee is to provide a fair, effective and efficient process for exercising Council’s quasijudicial functions under the Dog Control Act 1996.
Committee membership
Membership of the District Dog Control Committee is made up of three councillors and the Mayor.

Taupō/Taupō East Rural Community Grant Distribution Committee
Objective
To consider and make decisions on the allocation of the Taupō/Taupō East Rural Community grants in accordance with the Grants and Partnerships Policy.

Membership of the Taupō/Taupō East Rural Community Grant Distribution Committee is made up of the Taupō East Rural Ward councillor, three Taupō Ward councillors, two community representatives and the Mayor.

Objective
To consider and make decisions on the allocation of the Tūrangi-Tongariro Community Grants in accordance with the Grants and Partnerships Policy.

Membership of the Tūrangi-Tongariro Community Grant Distribution Committee is made up of Tūrangi-Tongariro Ward councillor, one other councillor, two of the Ngāti Tūrangitukua representatives appointed to the Tūrangi CoGovernance Committee and the Mayor.
