New changing rooms at Hickling Park provide fresh, functional spaces for local sporting teams and the community.
The changing rooms, which include showers and toilet facilities, have been repurposed after previously being used at Tūrangitukua Park until the opening of the Te Mataapuna sports facility in Tūrangi. We worked with the clubs that use Hickling Park to determine the most suitable location for the changing rooms and refine some of the design features. The new changing rooms opened in November 2025.
Project manager Georgia Reynolds says repurposing the changing room containers was a win-win and the team had worked with the clubs that use the park to determine the location and some of the design features.
“The facility has showers and toilets, so are a big improvement,” she says. “They also offer more protection from the weather in what can be a quite windy location. Thanks to all the local tradies who worked on the project – you did a great job and our little athletes are going to love it!”
