Tauhara Ridge water reservoir

Project Overview

A new 2000 cubic metre (200,000 litres) capacity reservoir has been built to significantly improve the drinking water supply reliability and quality for Taupō’s rapidly-growing southern suburbs.

Constructed of concrete to importance level 4 standards (high seismic resilience), the reservoir has a 100-year design life. The project included a new 625-meter rising water main from the Titoki Pump Station to the new reservoir located on Tauhara Ridge, between Richmond Heights and the State Highway 1 East Taupo Arterial.

The pump station has been upgraded significantly to house the new pump set and improve all electrical and control equipment. Several aging watermains were also replaced as part of the project which has also seen the airport pump station and fire tank decommissioned as the new reservoir provides improved water flow and pressure to the area.
