Whareroa water treatment plant

Project overview

The Whareroa water treatment plant has been upgraded to meet the requirements of the NZ drinking-water quality assurance rules.

A new purpose built treatment plant building housing the following processes:

• New UV disinfection system
• Upgraded chlorine disinfection system using sodium hypochlorite
• New pH correction system to reduce water corrosivity
• New Chlorine contact tank

Significant civil enabling works including pipelines to and from the existing bores to the new plant and upgrade of the bores to reduce contamination risks.

The plant has been in operation since late-2025.
