Broadlands Road widening

Project overview

An upgrade to Broadlands Road will see a 1.7km stretch of the road widened and seal repairs carried out.

The works are designed to make the trip into Taupō and back smoother and safer for people heading to the north-eastern part of our district.

Stop/Go traffic management and speed restrictions will be used throughout the works and motorists are asked to reduce speed and drive with care in these areas. Signage in the area will provide advance warning of the exact location of works and stop/go/reduced speed limits during the widening project.

Regular road users can avoid the works by using State Highway 5, which runs parallel to Broadlands Road.

The project is scheduled for completion in late March 2026.
