Waipapa Road slip repairs

Project overview

Work to repair several slip sites along Waipapa Road, north of Mangakino, has been completed following extensive damage caused by heavy rain in February this year.

The repairs were needed to restore the safety and long-term stability of the road which had three significant slip locations. Each slip site required excavation, drainage installation, slope rebuilding, and full road surface reinstatement.

A full road closure along Waipapa Road, from about 7km north of Mangakino to just south of Waipapa Dam, was in place 24/7 from Tuesday 7 April until the repairs were completed. Residents in the area continued to have access to their properties.
