About Mangakino Recreation Reserve
Located on the eastern side of the Mangakino township is the picturesque Mangakino Recreation Reserve.
The reserve, which is commonly known as the Mangakino Lakefront Reserve, borders the western side of Lake Maraetai on the Waikato River. Here you will find a boat ramp and jetty, play equipment, barbeque and picnic tables and public toilets. The reserve covers approximately 25 hectares.
Popular reasons to visit
Waikato River Trails
The Waikato River Trails pass through the reserve and this section of the trail features spectacular lake views and boardwalk sections through wetlands. The river trails are open to runners, walkers and cyclists.

Events
The reserve is home to the popular Mangakino Lake Hop every year while Lake Maraetai hosts a variety of wakeboard and other water-based events.
Mangakino Golf Club
Some land in the reserve is leased to the scenic Mangakino Golf Club where visitors are always welcome.
Camping
There is a designated camping area located between the Pouakani Marae and Bowling Club'. The entrance to this area is off Moana Crescent. Note that only non-powered sites are available. Campers may stay a maximum of two nights, or one night between Christmas Day and January 10.

Location
The Mangakino Recreation Reserve is located on Lake Road, just 1km to the north east of Mangakino town.
