Tongariro Domain
About Tongariro Domain
In the heart of Taupō town, Tongariro Domain is a popular area for local and visiting families to relax and explore.
The domain contains a number of recreational, cultural and civic facilities, located across Tongariro South Domain (the area south of Story Place) and Tongariro North Domain.
Let the kids explore the Warrior Mountains playground, play a game of giant chess or take a ride on the Lakeland Lions miniature train! Grab a coffee, ice cream or something to eat from one of the many nearby cafes in town, and picnic on Tongariro's Domain's lawn. If you enjoy roses, flowers, or native and exotic shrubs and trees, don't miss taking a walk through the Garden of Significance and Joan Williamson Rose Garden in the South Domain.
Tongariro Domain is also home to many of the Taupō District's biggest events including the annual New Zealand Ironman and Ironman 70.3 events, Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge, Taupō Marathon, Winterfest and many more.
