About Te Kapua Park

Located on Ngāti Tūrangitukua land, Te Kapua Park is Tūrangi’s central community park, adjacent to the town and other community facilities. The spacious park is surrounded by lush greenery, mature trees and is home to an award-winning playground.

Playground

A new papa tākaro (playground) at Te Kapua Park opened in 2023, born from a fantastic collaboration between Ngāti Tūrangitukua and Taupō District Council. The unique play space is themed around some of the stories of the surrounding rohe, such as the Tongariro River and maunga which are important to the people of Tūrangi.

Courts and skate park

Te Kapua Park includes tennis and basketball courts and a skate park, while at the southern end of the park you'll find the popular Tūrangi Turtle Pools.
